Churro I got: Matcha Crunch with vanilla ice cream.

This churro consisted of regular churro with matcha coating sprinkled with fruity pebbles. Then this churro is set on top of a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a cute The Loop cup.

The texture is really good. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Disappointment: I couldn’t really taste the Matcha despite this being called “the Matcha Crunch” and one of the signature suggestions on the menu.

Suggestion: If you want the full flavor of the matcha or any of the flavored churros, don’t overlap them with a strong, overpowering flavor like fruity pebbles.

Ice cream: The ice cream tasted like something you would get from Dairy Queen, which is good. I personally prefer the ice cream from Churroholic over the ice cream from The Loop.

There are photo spots in the store for instagram photos.

I like the light fixtures of the place. It’s very light yet impressionable. And the color gold compliments the white space very well. I also think the mason jar tip jar is pretty cute too.

My overall rating of this place would be:

4/5

July 27, 2018

Product: I’m a real GIRA Mask (Rose Slippery Skin) by Beauty Chuck
Date Applied: July 22, 2018
Time: 7:00 AM
Duration: 15 minutes

Before applying a layer of foundation, I decided to apply this Rose Mask. I hoped by applying this mask before applying make up would help the make up settle and look nicer on my skin.

facetune_23-07-2018-08-01-06

This is how the back looks like. The directions, instructions, and other informational things are mostly written in Korean.

The packaging is recyclable and eco-friendly.

When you take it out of the packaging, the mask looks like this. I had to flip it inside out to unwrap the mask.

I set the timer for 15 minutes with my iPhone.

This is how it looks like with the mask on.

Feedback with mask on:

  • Sheet material feel light, thin, and soft on skin
  • The essence is light and not too sticky
  • Not as soothing as coconut but somewhat gentle

After 15 minutes, I took the mask off.

Feedback after taking off mask:

  • Good amount of essence left, not too much or too little
  • Very slight redness, so that good
  • Skin feels moisturized and cool

Did make up sit well after mask?

  • Make up looks weird. It almost seemed like it was just sitting there and you can see its spotty. So that was disappointing. Maybe it’s me using it wrong, but I’ve seen videos from the company who distributes these masks have videos where the girl puts the masks on and applies make up after taking the mask off… hmm idk but that did not work out for me this time.

My overall rating for I’m a Real GIRA Rose Mask is:

3/5

I got this mask from Facetory’s 4 sheet mask pack subscription service. So if you’re interested in trying it out too, please check out their website at https://www.facetory.com. Comfort to my Soul

07.19.2018

Music has always been a part of my life. Even since childhood, music has been something that rejuvenated me.

When I was down, it lifted me up
When I was hyper, it calmed me down
When I was awkward, it helped me loosen up
When I was confused and lost, it helped me find my way back

Today I find myself trying to pursue music as a hobby. I am trying my best to learn guitar so I could sing to the music I play so that I could have the effects the music I’ve heard so far has done for me.

Do you have something you are passionate about? Something that makes you laugh? Something that makes you naturally so happy and bright?

If there is that something that has been there in your life that has comforted you, cheered you on, and made you happy, do it. Whether it be a profession or as a hobby, do it. What’s the point of making lots of money if you aren’t happy?

I chose my own path. I decided to pursue medicine and a specific path in Ophthalmology, but I don’t think I’ll ever stop singing and doing music here and there because it makes me feel alive and bright.

REVIEW – Bunnyhill Coconut Moisturizing Mask Pack

Leave a comment Standard

Today I am going to give my feedback on Bunnyhill’s Coconut Moisturizing Mask Pack. According to the packaging, it’s:

  • Skin Matching
  • Hypoallergenic Mask
  • Moisturizing

“Coconut oil is absorbed quickly into the skin, so provide moisture and nourishment, and it helps skin to be healthy”

Yes, that “so” before “provide” is actually on the packaging. If I could edit, I would change it to:

“Coconut oil is absorbed quickly into the skin to provide moisture and nourishment, and it helps skin to be healthy”

How to Use Instructions:

  1. After cleansing, dry face thoroughly
  2. Apply mask sheet onto the face
  3. Leave on for 15-20 minutes
  4. Remove mask and pat face with fingertips gently

Date Mask was applied: 07.16.2018
Time: 10:30PM
Left it on for: 15 min

My feedback of the mask out of the package:

  • This mask wasn’t as strangely tangled or wrapped in a too complicated manner. It took me good 10 seconds to gently unfold the mask to applicable form.
  • ** Most sheet masks I’ve tried came packed in a way that was confusing to unwrap, but this was a lot easier, so I like!**

I took the mask like so

Put it on my face like this.

My feedback with the mask on:

  • The sheet itself is so soft, gentle and smooth
  • Because it is coconut essence, it was very smoothing on my skin
    • My skin is usually super sensitive and turn red, itchy, and irritated easily, BUT my skin remained calm. There was no redness, itchiness, or irritation, which surprised me.
  • The scent is very gentle, not overbearing

I set 15 minutes using Siri on my iPhone.

~ 15 minutes later ~

Took the mask off after 15 minutes, patted the leftover essence into my face and neck area.

After mask removal feedback:

  • No redness, itchiness, or irritation after removal
  • Skin feels so moisturized and healed
  • Face has that nice healthy glow

My overall rating for Bunnyhill’s Coconut Moisturizing Mask Pack is:

5/5

Grilled Ginger – Fayetteville, NC – Review

Leave a comment Standard

Eye spy with my little eye, a very popular and delicious Vietnamese Restaurant! This restaurant is located in a plaza with buildings colored in hues of white and sky blue. I’ve read very good reviews about this place, but have yet to try till recently.

Address: 5052 Yadkin Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28303
Phone: (910) 867-6226
Website: http://www.grilledginger.com
Hours:
   Mon-Tue, Thur-Sat: 11am – 8:30pm
   Wed, Sun: Closed

I went on a Friday evening with my friend, Tasha.

Occasion: It just happened to be right across from the bubble tea shop we were planning to go. And since both of us did not eat dinner yet, it was just a perfect opportunity.

First Impression: Taking my first couple steps into the restaurant through their door, my impression was, “Wow… very crowded. As expected for a popular spot.”

One of the waitresses led us to our seats. She kept on apologizing for having to clean the booth up for us. I know it’s the asian culture, so as a fellow asian, I reassured that she was doing a fine job and no need for apologies.

There were lots of long tables for larger groups in the middle and booths for smaller parties along the walls. The overall interior design and color choices was reflection of the Vietnamese culture. It was very elegant and bright.

I like how they chose warm colors like muted pink and red. Red is a very good choice for a restaurant because it is a color that evokes appetites.

For appetizer we got their A4. Egg Rolls. The presentation of the 2 nicely fried egg rolls were very cute.

IMG_3882

It reminded me of a hammock. Absolutely love the mixture of wood, aluminum and ceramics. It surprisingly makes a good combination. It’s also very clever to have the egg rolls sit on top of pile of finely sliced carrots and lettuce to balance out the color scheme too.

For the main meal, I ordered their B3. Hot Chili Pork Spare Ribs.

They have 3 level of spiciness for this, I went for the medium level. I love the little pot the ribs came in, especially the wooden basket to support it and help carry the hot content. I think this is a very good idea because pots such as the one shown in the picture above become very hot and to have wooden basket at the bottom will make carrying it around much safer for the servers and customers as well. I was impressed by how well the ribs were cooked. It was very easy to slide the meat off the bones. The flavor was sweet & spicy, which is what I go head over heels for!

Pay: You can pay up at the counter. If you want to take some leftovers to-go, then just go up front to ask for a food container. This is because it’s usually crowded and the servers are preoccupied most of the time. It’s must faster for you to take the initiative to go up to the front desk to ask for the things you need.

Service: The service was good. All of the waitresses were polite and helpful. It was sort of funny to find out that there were 3 waitresses, but each of them had a specific role. So if I asked a waitress in charge of bringing drinks about our food, she would call for the waitress in charge of that specific role to come instead of just addressing the situation herself. But it didn’t really bother me at all. I just found it a little amusing.

Overall, my experience to Grilled Ginger was a good one. If you are looking for a good Vietnamese restaurant, I definitely recommend this one. Tbh, I personally like this one over the other restaurant a little ways over.

I would give Grilled Ginger 5/5 stars.IMG_0965.33270804

Panera Bread – Skibo, Fayetteville, NC – Review

Leave a comment Standard

Panera Bread has clearly established itself as one of the most favored shops. I’m pretty I’m not the only who would always crash at a nearby Panera Bread to do my homework and write my long papers.

Panera is known for their healthy and delicious food. They have also developed their customer service to reach out to those who are unable to come to the shop by offering delivering services. Drive-thrus have become a common sidekick to recent Panera shops-attracting busy, on-the-go consumers as well.

I personally love the nice, calm, and soothing environment of Panera Bread. The interior has always had wood and their trademark shade of green to illustrate a natural, relaxing, homing place for people of various needs to come together. Every Panera I have been to has always been clean and cared by friendly staff. And somehow, its the style that never gets old. It’s a timeless design for sure!

One of my concerns when I go to a cafe or study spot is security of my belongings. I worry about leaving my belongings at the table to get my order sometimes if the current environment isn’t very ideally safe. So the fact that Panera brings your order to you is definitely a plus!

Today, I visited a nearby Panera in 11 months!! It’s been forever! I seriously missed my favorite study/munch spot so it was nice to stop by.

ADDRESS: 1933 Skibo Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28314
HOURS:
MON-SAT: 6AM-10PM
SUN: 7AM-10PM

I got 3 items:
– Green Passion Smoothie
– Pecan Braid
– Spinach & Bacon Souffle

My never-fail, go-to is their Green Passion Smoothie. It is just soooo good!! When I took a sip of it and tasted the exact same taste I’ve had back home…it was nostalgic. It felt like I was home once again. Just sitting in my neighborhood’s nearby Panera, enjoying my usual smoothie. I’ve never been away from home period and it’s been almost a whole year. Being able to taste and feel at home in a place located across the whole country in North Carolina was amazing. It helped re-energize me to keep going.

I’ve always liked anything with pecans, so I decided to give their Pecan Braid a try. Surely, it was good. It had a firm, but soft texture with good balance of sweetness and nuttiness. Definitely a great choice for a little dessert!

Before enjoying my sweet dessert, I filled my tummy up with a little souffle. This is my first time trying their souffle at all. Their Ham and Cheese one sold out before I reached the cashier, so I went with their Spinach and Bacon option. It was delicious! The souffle had a light, fluffy exterior with a slight crisp. When you sink your teeth into it, you come into contact with the soft, moist interior filled with warm cheese and spinach filling. It just hits the spot with the little bacon that’s resting on top to add a little boost. I thoroughly enjoyed taking each and every bite of my souffle and would definitely come back for more!

My overall experience with this Panera was up to expectations and left very satisfied! I’m happy that it’s within close distance and would love to visit when I can.

I give this Panera 5/5.

Language: Key to the Soul

Leave a comment Standard

I am bilingual. I was born an asian, but raised in the land of freedom and unbelievable abundance of opportunity. Thus, I was grew up to speak, think, and comprehend two languages fluently. However, it wasn’t easy. In fact, it was anything from easy.

I grew up seeing, hearing, and facing many different forms of judgement from just being able to speak a different language. I was judged for being different, for having a skill that they didn’t have.

A language isn’t something you can just pick up and adapt so easily. It takes tremendous effort and dedication to make it even stay on your tongue for a couple seconds. There may be people in the world, who can scoop up languages here and there as if it was nothing, but that’s not everyone’s ability is it? Majority need to take steady steps to build a sturdy foundation through education and experience.

It wasn’t any different for me. I came to the U.S. when I was 6. I was barely mumbling basic Hangul (Korean language) at that time. Then I was thrown into school surrounded by unfamiliar faces, culture, and language: English.

I was made fun of, laughed at for my effort in learning their culture and language. Through trials of humiliation and hundreds of stumbling, I was able to reach fluency, which people around me today can’t really tell if I wasn’t born in the States or not.

Got a question for you: Why should a person be judged for something they earned through years of hard work and dedication? They invested time and effort to acquire a skill, a language, something that can open more doors for them.

A language is not merely a skill or a new collection of sounds you can utilize to communicate with others. In fact, a language has the power to open and unlock doors to the souls of others.

Have you noticed how people, who can speak the same language become closer and befriend much faster than people, who cannot communicate because of a language barrier? This isn’t 100% always the case; however, there are many cases like these.

For someone touring around in a country, where the native language of the land isn’t familiar to their ears and communication is difficult, there is nothing more inviting and pleasant than meeting someone, who can speak their language. This precisely one of the reason why having one or two foreign languages in your sleeve gives you a boost in the employment/hiring department. It surely makes you more competitive.

I’ve been in many positions where I was able to lend a helping hand to those wandering around aimlessly. It was easier for me to approach them speaking their home language.

A language is not only a means of communication, but also a good representation of the country’s culture and history. As you learn to speak the language and understand the history behind it, you open your horizon towards the culture of that country and of the people. It helps you become more aware and more understanding.

Being able to speak more than one language isn’t strange. It’s a talent, it’s actually something to be proud of and to be praised for. Don’t give strange stares or gossip about the next person you see speaking a language you cannot understand. Instead, why not try to strike a conversation with that person and learn a word or two? Don’t chase an opportunity walking pass you, grab it with an open heart. It will surely help you in the long run.
